Story
The best way to acquire gossip was straight from the horse's mouth... so to speak. Therefore Simon was fast aboard the idea of teaming up with Kaira for a pas de deux; knowing she could provide him with all bits of interesting pieces of information.
They met up for team training in North Germany mid-way between their respective stables and it was here that Simon learned that Kaira... was not a bad sort at all. Initial reservations on his part dissolved as the training progressed. Sure, they had squared off at a competition earlier, but what was past rivalry compared to pleasant conversation? (read: getting compliments) She had even brought him coffee at one point. Kaira may be a creature of chaos (she didn't even colour coordinate her clothes with her tack! Scandalous!) but she could ride. 
The horses got along as well - perhaps they recognized each other from Stridsholt. This was good, as teamwork was essential in a pas de deux where you had to ride stirrup-to-stirrup most of the time. Kaira was keen on breaking that rule however; suggesting they incorporate advanced shapes into their test as well. Special work was put into a canter circle: they would circle smaller and smaller, ultimately resulting in a near-pirouette - one of Spiegelau's strongest movements. Young Mezuzah had the hang of it too, although he would get springier the more collected it got. 
...both horses got springy when the costumes were introduced. But why miss out on a chance to really get blingy? #BlingyBeforeSpringy
