CAPTAIN'S LOG |  Zdar date 1st day  |  Our position: Orbiting RPS, Gyulakeszi, Hungary
Onboard the ship: Captain Kaisa Komarova, Science Officer Connor Goldenweiser and Chief Engineer Jalil Faijad stationed at the bridge.
On the planet: Frosty, a layer of snow covers the ground. Estimated temperature: cold. Navigator/visual officer Kaputnik 2.0 in orbit. Atmosphere: 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 0,9% argon, 0.03% carbon dioxide and trace amounts of other gases. Suitable for breathing without aid.

We have arrived at the starting point in Hungary. Officer Con has voiced his complaints about the slippery footing the sub-zero temperatures bring about and mordax studs have been installed on our vessels to prevent navigation malfunctions. The weather is brisk but spirits are high... and they come in different flavours. We have both vodka and snaps. 

Our mission is clear: Snow: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the star drone Kaputnik. It's four-week mission to explore strange new trails, to seek out new friends and new acquaintances, to boldly go where no horse has gone before.

SO. Since my team (one of them anyway, poor Jalil just has to suffer through this madness :'D) is Star Trek-inspired I'll be writing their progress as Zdar Logs, lol. Yes, I'm a nerdy disgrace.

ANYWAY I promised a formal introduction for the drone KAPUTNIK who'll be soaring above, so here we gooo ~
Kaisa has a profound interest in photo/video stuff on a hobby basis, so she wanted to make a video/photo log of this year's White December. We're talking selfie sticks, videos... and since drones are super cool, why not bring a drone along too, aahh? Kaisa's father works as an engineer for a Swedish tech company and was able to pull some strings here. The drone Kaputnik 2.0 was named after Kaputnik 1.0, which was the name of the space vessel Kaisa's grand father (a certain grumpy Russian kosmonaut called Dima ) flew. This is a head nod to a very old project I used to work on in which Dima was a main character. Fun fact. ANYWAY, good old Dima was probably happy (or as 'happy' as that grump ever gets) to work with his son on tweaking Kaputnik 2.0 for the challenges of TWD. So he's been engineered by the combined powers of a tech engineer and a former kosmonaut... this drone can take a punch, suffice to say. But be nice to it, please. Don't shoot it :')
...and WHO PAID FOR IT? Hahaha, oh please. The parts for that expensive little toy? Hahaha... ...Goldenzymes (in part), of course. Con is part of this team too, y'know.
Sooo, what can it do? IT CAN FILM YOU. FROM ABOVE. Prepare for dramatic aerial views. It can ALSO help with navigation! Nobody gets lost who stays close to Cap'n Kaisa... although if you have a nervous horse prone to spooking I'd suggest you keep a distance, lol. Kaputnik sounds like a giant mosquito and whirls snow up when it gets close to the ground.
He runs on batteries. Batteries are solar powered and are charged during the day.


Also, the name Kaputnik is a pun, of course. A pun that works much better for this team than the original team that operated Kaputnik 1.0 :'D
From 'Sputnik' (Sputnik 1 was the first artificial Earth satellite, launched by the Soviet Union in 1957) and 'Kaput' (meaning 'broken' in Danish or Yiddish... take your pick)
